Flashback:-

Having a flashback in our opening sequence meant we could include a section of montage editing. 

To make it apparent to the audience it was a flashback we decided we needed to add some kind of effect in order to make it clear and understandable. We therefore added an echo effect that made the shots echo creating a blur. This worked well and our audience knew that it was a flashback meaning we had made it clear enough to understand.
